The role
What a Steward does
Writes to a country, not to a ministry.The Letters are addressed to Namibia, to Zambia, to Malawi — not to a minister who will be gone in four years. A Steward writes for a reader who has not been born yet.
Finds the instrument, and the source.Every financing instrument on this site is real, dated and carries a working link. Finding the deal is half the work; finding the document that proves it is the other half.
Says what is not known.An unpainted portrait says it is unpainted. An assumption is labelled an assumption. The hardest part of the role is publishing the gap instead of covering it.
Signs collectively.The work carries the office and not a byline, so an argument stands on its evidence. That is why the Letters are signed the way they are.
