Dear Colombia,
Yellow, blue and red: the riches of your land, the two oceans that bound it, and the courage that won it. More than half your land is forest, and essential health care scores 82 out of 100, among the highest in the region.
Think of what you have already built. In December 2025 the World Bank approved $530 million for the most intensive phase of the first Bogota Metro line, with 23 trains to be commissioned before it opens in 2028. After the earthquake of 10 August 2026 it added $200 million to the contingent credit line you had already arranged for disasters.
At home the record is just as real. Ninety-three in every hundred of you cook with clean fuel. Essential health care scores 82 out of 100 on the World Health Organization index. Seventy-four in every hundred of you drink safely managed water at home.
The work ahead is plain, and it is worth saying plainly. Only nineteen in every hundred of you have a safely managed toilet at home. At the last count, in 2019, fifty-one in every hundred of your children reached the end of primary school unable to read a simple text. Thirty-seven in every hundred of you lived below $8.30 a day at the last count, in 2024. Shelter sets your Coverage today, at 18.7 out of 100, with reading and income close behind. Each of them is within your reach.
Now imagine that same resolve turned toward every home in the country. Picture Perfect Colombia: a morning when every family cooks with clean fuel and sits down to a full table; when every tap runs clean and every home has a safe toilet; when every child walks to a school where a teacher is waiting, and reads with ease by the age of ten; when every mother lives within reach of a clinic with the lights on, and every young person finds work that pays. And no Colombian falls below a decent life, because the nation has decided that none will.
None of this needs a miracle. It needs what you already own: your forests, your rivers, your coffee, your two coasts and the creativity of your cities. They are assets no balance sheet counts, and together they can carry every Colombian to food, water, shelter, energy, education, health and a livelihood.
“You arranged your disaster finance before the earthquake came. Now arrange a safe toilet for every Colombian home.”
So this is an invitation. Bring your vision, your story and your solutions to the Perfect Colombia Design Studio, and join the Co-designers who are already imagining what comes next. Perfect Colombia will not be designed for you. It will be designed by you.
