Dear Senegal,
Green, gold and red, with a green star, under a motto that says it all: One People, One Goal, One Faith. You have kept your democracy through every test, and your new oil and gas fields have begun to flow.
Think of what you have already built. In September 2026 IMF staff agreed a $2.2 billion, three-year programme with you. In 2026 alone the World Bank approved $135 million for health and financial protection, $140 million for farm roads in the north and centre, and $40 million for Casamance and Kedougou.
At home the record is just as real. Seventy-two in every hundred of you can always count on enough good food. Sixty-two in every hundred of you live above your national poverty line.
The work ahead is plain, and it is worth saying plainly. Only twenty-seven in every hundred of you drink safely managed water at home. Only thirty in every hundred of you have a safely managed toilet at home. At the last count, in 2019, sixty-nine in every hundred of your children reached the end of primary school unable to read a simple text. Water sets your Coverage today, at 27.2 out of 100, with shelter and reading close behind. Each of them is within your reach.
Now imagine that same resolve turned toward every home in the country. Picture Perfect Senegal: a morning when every family cooks with clean fuel and sits down to a full table; when every tap runs clean and every home has a safe toilet; when every child walks to a school where a teacher is waiting, and reads with ease by the age of ten; when every mother lives within reach of a clinic with the lights on, and every young person finds work that pays. And no Senegalese falls below a decent life, because the nation has decided that none will.
None of this needs a miracle. It needs what you already own: your ocean, your new oil and gas, your forests, your port at Dakar and one of the most resilient democracies in Africa. They are assets no balance sheet counts, and together they can carry every Senegalese to food, water, shelter, energy, education, health and a livelihood.
“You have kept faith with democracy through every test. Now keep faith with safe water in every Senegalese home.”
So this is an invitation. Bring your vision, your story and your solutions to the Perfect Senegal Design Studio, and join the Co-designers who are already imagining what comes next. Perfect Senegal will not be designed for you. It will be designed by you.
Yours in design,
